CECIE STARR-CAREY

Jack near the end, happily in control of multiple devices as well as his wife.

I was Jack's EA in 1974-76 before moving into HR with Bebe Pierce. Fresh from UC Berkeley, I could type well and was hired via an employment agency that meant I worked an entire month for "free". Jack shared my services with Steve Rutter which was a source of amusement when at the stroke of 10am each day Jack's door would open suddenly, ready with a stack of correspondence and contracts.
Jack was unfailingly polite, relentlessly hardworking, and uniquely disciplined in his editorial pursuits. He left no stone unturned when it came to author prospects, and I was there during the Cecie Starr and G. Tyler Miller years when Jack became a top-notch champion of their success.
Rest well, Jack.
